Last night I spent a few hours reading my new book (The Kind Diet) and it was SO EYE-OPENING!! I can't explain how learning this information made me feel in a word alone, it was literally crazy to have this knowledge of what sick and disgusting things we are consuming and what's even more wrong is that we have been so BRAINWASHED our whole lives to believe it's actually good for us.
Reading about how many hormones and toxins that are in the meat we eat; hormones and toxins that in turn are digested by US and therefore releasing these particles into our bodies where we have no need for them and they start to attack us! That's right, the food we are relying on for nutrition is harming our bodies more than it's helping.
Another HUGE bit of knowledge for me was the fact that meat eating is a main cause of concern and leads to multiple types of cancers and of course to the #1 cause of death in women across America...Heart Disease/Heart Attack from the aertery blocking cholesterol we are consuming. Our bodies make our own cholesterol, we have absolutely NO need to bring more into our diets.
Also it takes 3 days for meat to go through our systems, 3 days for it to move through our intestines, rotting and smelling until it passes through us completely. Ever wonder why after going #2 some times it smells so bad you think you might pass out?? Gauranteed thats what it's from!
While I was reading this I felt incrediblly disgusted by the thought of eating meat and I had just finished eating hamburger. I felt like I could literally feel the meat in my stomach just sitting there being disgusting and it made me want to vomit. I didn't but I wanted to.
So because of my newfound knowledge I have decided that I will no longer eat red meat (to start with) and I will be making the transistion to eating vegetarian and eventually I would like to become vegan. So I will not be eating red meat, to ease into my new diet & lifestyle I will (for the time being) continue to eat poultry and fish - organic only; until I am comfortable enough in completely ridding meat from my diet. I am also going to cut down on cheese and milk and switch to soy as well as limiting my intake of processed foods.
Making these changes (as outlined in the book) promises to make me feel amazing and my best ever... I can't wait!
I have to admit that even my recent changes in diet including eating more veggies and fruits and ensuring I get more fibre, drink less coffee and more tea/water has completely improved my body already. I am less bloated and I swear I've lost a couple pounds just from that!
I feel lighter and skinnier so I can just imagine how amazing I will feel once I cut out the red meat and majority of my dairy intake!
Another cool fact I found in the book, I have always suffered from chronic cold symptoms (stuffy, runny nose no matter what time of the year) and apparently this could be a sign of lactose intolerance! I had no idea! So I'm going to try living dairy free for a whole month and see if it stops, if it does then I am quite confident I will be just fine without it... ok maybe I'll still have the occassional ice cream but... we'll see!
So following these tid bits of info food was divided into two categories: Icky & Kind
Icky food is everything that is harmful to our bodies including meat
Kind foods are what nourish us which are related to plant based foods
In the book there are 3 stages of the Kind Diet:
1. Flirt - you are interested in changing and have been "flirting" with the idea of making the switch to vegetarian and will be adding aspects of the vegan diet into your current diet
2. Vegan - you are committed to cutting out all animal consumption in your diet & animal by products
3. Superhero - you are 100% vegan as well as living my a macro-biotic diet which means eating only locally by region and by season as well as never eating anything processed (no "meat" imposters, processed soy products, ect)
At the moment I am entering the Flirting stage, I would like to jump into Vegan but I don't think that would be a wise choice for me as I know my body and I know that I need to go through the period of adjusting and feeling the cleansing of the bad and the renewal feeling of the good so that I know I'm doing the right thing and I don't end up going back to bad habits.
I still have to read through the books, so far I've only made it through the chapters regarding food and the stages of the diet. I can't wait to get into the recipes because I'm really excited to incorporate them into my day!
I'm not sure how D will feel about my new meals as he is not an avid fan of vegetables in the first place so I'm not entirely sure how I am going to deal with him and little A for our meals but I will figure that out in time!
I can't wait to start feeling and looking my best. Kind Life HERE I COME!

I love it! And I totally agree, although it's interesting that you bought these two books. The Kind Diet sounds more "take no prisoners" in its approach, while French Women is much more about the sensuality of food and balance... I think they are the perfect combo, because no matter what happens as long as you're living consciously you're in control. I've recently started limiting my calorie intake to about 1500 a day and it's VERY surprising how little you need to feel great, as long as you eat SUPERFOODS! xoxoxo
Exactly!
I think if you are eating consiously and because it's something you want (but also what you need) then that's the best thing you can do! And yes SUPERFOODS rocks! :)
It really is suprising when you consider proper portion sizes that you don't need to eat so much and when you know the correct foods that will keep you full you don't feel starving soon afterwards!
